I was born in Budapest in 1954. I am a physicist and I got my MSc degree at the Roland Eötvös University, Budapest in 1977.

From 1977 to 1991 I worked at the Medicor Works (Budapest) as a development physicist. I made measurements and did research for X-ray equipment development in the X-ray and Imaging Departments. I was the project manager of an international standardization project and a metrological development project.

From March 1991 to April 2001 I was senior physicist of the National Institute for Roentgenology and Radiation Physics (Budapest). Here I was the leader of the "Standardization Section". My duties were among others the following: keeping registers of radiological equipment, giving official authorization for discarding radiological equipment, evaluating plans of radiological installations before their official authorization, standardization, quality problems in diagnostic radiology, radiation protection training of radiological staff, participation in type testing procedures of radiological equipment and protective devices and also in managing of the technical library of the institute. From 1982 to 2001 I was a radiation protection supervisor.

Since 1st of May, 2001, I have been a senior researcher of the National "Frédéric Joliot-Curie" Research Institute for Radiobiology and Radiohygiene (NRIRR, Budapest), Division of Occupational Radiohygiene. Here I am the leader of diagnostic radiology team and project manager of acceptance testing (it is an official duty of the institute) and conformance testing of diagnostic radiological equipment in an accredited testing laboratory. My main task is to elaborate the system of tests and suggestions concerning quality assurance in diagnostic radiology, and to lead these activities. Moreover, I participate in radiation protection testing of radiological equipment and rooms, the National Patient Dose Assessment Programme, expertise activities of the institute, radiation protection trainings and standardization in diagnostic radiology.

From 2006 I am – in a part-time job – the laboratory leader of the “X-ray Status Testing Laboratory” of Izotop Ltd., Budapest. From 2008 I am also an individual undertaker.

I got my PhD degree in 1986. I have contributed 25 papers to journals (one of them appeared in Phys. Med. Biol., another one in J. Biomed. Eng.), 19 papers to conferences and 134 conference presentations, prepared course materials, research reports, book reviews, conference reports and a methodological guide. I translated into Hungarian from IEC/EN 60601 International Standard series the 1-3, 2-28, 2-32, 2-7, 2-45, 2-44, 2-43, 2-17, 2-33 and from IEC(/EN) 61223 series the 1, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 3-3 and 3-4.

I participated in several trainings (e.g. EFOMP Summer School in Radiophysics/Diagnostic Radiology held in Nancy, France, June 19-25, 1994 and „European School of Medical Physics”, week 2, „Medical Imaging with Ionising Radiations” held in Archamps, France, November 14-20 2001), international conferences (e.g. ECR, RSNA, ICMP, IRPA). In February 1999 with the grant of the Hungarian Soros Foundation under the title "Quality assurance and radiation protection in diagnostic radiology" I visited three medical physics centres in England: Liverpool, Guildford and London. In 2001 with the support of a Sunnybrook and Women’s College Imaging Research Visiting Scholar Award I visited the Imaging Research at SWC Health Sciences Center in Toronto.

Since 1980 I have regularly been requested to give lectures in radiation protection trainings for medical staff, veterinary surgeons, X-ray technicians and servicemen. I was consultant of undergraduate students six times. NRIRR is an accredited training institution of both MSc and postgraduate medical physics specialists’ courses and I am its project manager.

I have got official certificates in radiation protection. I am an expert in radiation protection in diagnostic radiology registered by the Hungarian Ministry of Public Health. In 1993 I got a BA degree from mental hygiene at the Hungarian University of Physical Education.

I am a member of the public corporation of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. I took part in its some working groups dealing with radiation protection. I was a fellow of the Hungarian Association of Medical Physicists (HAMP), member organisation of EFOMP and IOMP. In 1998 I have been elected to be a board member of HAMP, responsible for the area of diagnostic radiology. Since 2004 to 2009 I was the secretary of HAMP. I am a founding member and from the beginning (2009) till 2012 a board member of the new, independent Hungarian Society of Medical Physicists (HSMP). I am also a member of the Hungarian Radiation Protection Association (Radiation Protection Section of the Roland Eötvös Physical Society, member organization of IRPA), Medical Engineering Section of the National Scientific Society for Measurement and Automation (member organization of IFMBE), MEDING National Medical Engineering Society and the Hungarian Society of Radiologists. I am a founding member and from the beginning (2010) the vice-secretary of its Section of Radiation Physics, Technology and Radiation Protection and leader of the working group “technical quality control” within this section. I am a corresponding member of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and an associate member of the European Society of Radiology. I was a member of the editorial board of "Radiológiai Közlemények" (= Radiological Proceedings) (1996-2000).

I was an active member of the working groups IEC SC62B MT 37 (radiation protection in X-ray equipment), WG 42 (safety of conventional radiography and fluoroscopy) and MT 38 (acceptance testing) during their whole activity, and I am a member of MT 32 (X-ray tube assemblies) till now. From September 2010 I am also a member of MT 50 (grids). From September 2009 I am the chairman of the Hungarian National Committee of IEC and CENELEC TC62.

I was the scientific organizing secretary of nine Hungarian full-day scientific meetings about “Measurements on X-ray equipment” – “Paraclinical X-ray forum” (2003-2012) and organizing secretary of a European regional workshop on quality control, patient dosimetry and radiation protection in diagnostic and interventional radiology and nuclear medicine, held in 2007 in NRIRR. In 2008-2010 I was invited lecturer at three international conferences (Poland, India and Bulgaria).
